Interested in an Internship with GE?

As previously posted, Nick Ferraro will be available tomorrow from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the lobby of Purvine Hall. In addition to visiting some classes on Friday he also hopes to talk with Seniors AND anyone interested in a possible internship.

If you are a senior or a student interested in an internship please bring a copy of your resume to give to Nick on Thursday or Friday.

Nick From GE Healthcare returns - Thursday and Friday

If any of you would like to visit with Nick Ferraro he will be available tomorrow from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the lobby of Purvine Hall. Nick graduated a few years ago in SET and is visiting some classes on Friday and would be glad to talk with any students interested in GE Healthcare about the various opportunities they offer, as well as some of his experiences working the past couple of years. If you are a senior and think you might be interested in working at GE, please bring a copy of your resume.

Regardless if you are a senior, junior, sophomore, or freshmen please help us welcome Nick tomorrow afternoon by stopping by and visiting with him for a few minutes. Remember - THURSDAY from about 1:00 - 3:00 - lower level of Purvine Hall.

Graduating and Looking for Work?

Attention Seniors - if you are graduating soon it appears that both IGT (Reno, NV) and Intel (Portland, OR) are looking for talented folks. If interested please make sure you apply with both of these companies. In addition, later this week former SET student Nick Ferraro from GE Healthcare in Wisconsin will be visiting some of our classes to talk with students about various opportunities in the technical health care related industry, working at GE, etc.

Finally, make sure that you are registered with Jan Goodyear (jan.goodyear@oit.edu) in the OIT Career Center so you can take advantage of the many services her office provides.

TONIGHT - Feb. 22nd at 5:30pm in the Shasta Complex in the College Union - second annual College of Engineering, Technology and Management - National Engineer’s Month celebration. There will be free pizza and drinks and free College Tee Shirts.

Come and hear about accomplishments within the College, the MECOP/CECOP program and a keynote address by James De Hoog an MMET alum who will talk about his time at Oregon Tech, his career and business, and what it means to be an alumni.

Alumni are also invited to the event.

Kinect Fun Challenge

Microsoft Studios has just announced that they will be sponsoring a special Kinect Fun Labs Challenge as part of the Microsoft World Wide Imagine Cup competition. The competition consists of two rounds; an idea/design round, and a software development round. The top 100 student teams in Round 1 will receive a free Kinect sensor and advance to Round 2. A couple of key dates are:

February 14, 2012: Live Meeting Q&A with the Kinect Labs Captain Dan Waters
March 6, 2012: Team Registration and Round One Design Submittal

The Kinect Fun Labs Challenge is a great opportunity for students in technology clubs, special topics courses, or who want to get recognition for developing applications for the latest technologies.
